The Challenge
Following its transition from operating under a local church to becoming an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Alcance Latino faced the challenge of building sustainable fundraising infrastructure while continuing to provide essential services to the Latino community throughout the region.
Although the organization continued operating within church-provided space, leadership was working toward generating sufficient revenue not only to sustain programming, but also to financially support the space and operational needs associated with becoming a standalone nonprofit organization.
Serving thousands of individuals and families through legal assistance, housing and employment resources, advocacy, family support programming, and other community services, the organization needed strategic fundraising guidance that aligned with both its mission and limited operational resources.
The Strategy
Cimi partnered with organizational leadership to help strengthen fundraising strategy, identify new funding opportunities, and expand philanthropic support during this important period of organizational transition and growth.
Our work included:
- Grant research, strategy, and proposal writing
- Identifying government and foundation funding opportunities
- Strategic fundraising planning and donor engagement recommendations
- Advocacy support surrounding community and funding initiatives
- Sponsorship outreach and in-kind donation strategy
- Event fundraising support designed to maximize revenue while reducing expenses
Cimi also helped strengthen one of the organization’s signature fundraising events by focusing on sponsorship growth and increasing in-kind support for raffle and event items, helping redirect more event revenue back toward mission impact and operational sustainability rather than event-related expenses.
The Impact
The organization’s fundraising event experienced increased success and attendance while benefiting from stronger sponsorship engagement and reduced costs through expanded in-kind support.
Cimi’s work also helped position Alcance Latino for broader funding opportunities, stronger fundraising strategy, improved organizational sustainability, and expanded visibility surrounding the organization’s important work serving the Latino community throughout the region.
